Free Comodo Antivirus For Linux.
Comodo Antivirus for Linux (CAVL) offers the same comprehensive virus protection for Linux as their Windows software, but with an added benefit of a fully configurable anti-spam system for Linux users.
CAVL also uses cloud-based behavioral analysis for unknown files, to provide unrivaled protection against zero-day malware. The powerful AV engine is complemented by a highly configurable email gateway to filter spam and block email-borne threats.
In addition, it is very user-friendly and former Windows users who feel unsafe using command based AV-solutions can relax once it is installed.
However you should read the license agreement:
1.5. Updates. Comodo is not obligated to provide updates to the Products. If an update is provided and the update is not accompanied by an additional agreement, this agr
eement applies to your use and installation of the update. Some Products update automatically without notice.
How about that?

The below solution also works for Linux Mint 17.1 (Tested) and probably later, but has not been tested.
Step by step installation:
First run this command to see which version of libssl you have installed:
sudo apt list libssl*
Then download openssl0.9.8 and install via a terminal window ( gDebi doesn't work ).
sudo dpkg -i libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-7ubuntu3.1_amd64.deb
Press Enter.
Make sure you have openssl installed and libssl0.9.8, Comodo AV is dependent on it and will not work without it installed. Debian 8.7, for example, has libssl1.0.0 installed.
dpkg -l | grep -i openssl
You could install it with the ignore dependency command, like this:
sudo dpkg --ignore-depends=libssl0.9.8 -i cav-linux_x64.deb
Press Enter.
Next step:
Download Comodo Antivirus.
The file can be found in the Download folder if you have not selected another folder.
cd downloads
When openssl is installed, it is time to install Comodo Antivirus with the command:
sudo dpkg -i cav-linux_1.1.268025-1_amd64.deb
Press Enter.
The next step is to run post_setup.sh located in / opt / COMODO / folder.
But first, we will make the file executable, either with chmod 755 or as below chmod + x.
cd /opt/COMODO $ sudo chmod +x post_setup.sh [sudo] password for user: Enter your password
When done.
sudo sh ./post_setup.sh

You will find COMODO in all applications.
Start the program and update the virus definitions before running your first scan of your computer.
Possibly it shows that: The antivirus database has been updated - Never, but isf click on the "Never" link and it will change to today's date.
NOTE! It is highly likely that Realtime scanning does not work and that redirfs.ko and afflt.ko packages are missing, download available here.
To solve this problem, you must load and replace driver.tar in the / opt / COMODO folder.
Tested with Kernel 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 3.10, 3.11, 3.12, 3.13, 3.14, 3.15, 3.16, 3.17, 3.18, 4.1, 4.2
The following solution requires that you first turn off Comodo Antivirus:
- Right-click the red C icon at the time and date.
- Left click on Close.
- Yes button.
If you saved driver.tar in Downloads, open the Terminal window and type:
Restart the computer is not required, but recommended.
⇔ If now, courageously, this did not solve the problem altogether, following the instructions below: ⇔
You should edit the following at the beginning of the listed files:
Change #! / Bin / sh to #! / Bin / bash in /opt/COMODO/load_cmdagent.sh, /opt/COMODO/load_cmgdeamon.sh, /opt/COMODO/load_cav.sh
sudo gedit /opt/COMODO/load_cmdagent.sh
Gedit text editor opens with Root rights and you can easily make the change and save the file.
Close Gedit text editor after each change and re-run command but change to:
sudo gedit /opt/COMODO/load_cmgdeamon.sh
Then:
sudo gedit /opt/COMODO/load_cav.sh
How to uninstall using the commandline:
sudo apt-get --purge remove cav-linux
Press Enter.
Final note: Due to the fact that this software is badly maintained (in.example that a private person had to fix the redirfs.ko and afflt.ko packages ), I do not recommend it for use with newer Linux distributions.
