Scribus - Free Desktop Publishing Program.
Scribus is a free desktop publishing program available for Linux, Unix Mac OS and Windows. The program is comparable to Pagemaker, InDesign and QuarkXpress. Scribus can handle PDF and SVG file formats.
The program is based on frames that are in stock. These frames can be filled with text, images, colors, lines and then edited, moved and grouped.
The pages can be edited individually or filled with master pages. The documents can then be saved in Scribu's own XML-based format .sla, or exported to print-ready PDF, XPS, JPEG, PNG, SVG or other formats.
With version 1.5.3, released on May 22, 2017, Scribus received OpenType support with advanced typography and complex writing systems.
Latest version: 1.5.8
Version 1.5.8 focused mostly on bugfixes and code optimizations, the latter of which are expected to lead to reliability and speed improvements. We have also begun to prepare Scribus for using Qt6.
How to install via a terminal window:
sudo apt-get install scribus
Press Enter.
